Online Game Art Design
The computer arts, known as graphic arts, are a rising art form – especially as computer gaming continues to break records in popularity, generating billions of dollars each year. For today’s sophisticated and animated video games, software engineers often work with talented artists who have developed an understanding of how to mesh their art with computer technology.

Fine artists create art to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings. They use a variety of methods -- including painting, drawing, sculpting and illustration, as well as an assortment of materials, including oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, pencils, pen and ink, plaster, clay, and computers. Artists' works may be realistic, stylized, or abstract and may depict objects, people, nature, or events.

Art directors formulate design concepts and presentation approaches for visual communications media. Fine artists, including painters, sculptors, and illustrators create original artwork using a variety of media and techniques. Multi-media artists and animators create special effects, animation, or other visual images using film, video, computers or other electronic media.

The profitability of video games has created room at the table for talented artists, generating new opportunities for those whose minds are open to a new and profitable way to display their creativity. By successfully completing college coursework in computer science, computer information systems, graphic design, web design and gaming art, many fine artists are able to carve a niche for themselves in the booming video games industry.

Video game artists may work with software engineers, programmers, web designers, writers, and others to create the higher tier games. It is helpful for artists to be able to work cooperatively with the other skilled members of the team in order to create a viable and popular product. But perhaps more importantly for the individual artist, success in this field may occur more rapidly for those whose have excellent interpersonal skills.

Game art is not only used to enhance the games that are so popular for entertainment; it is also an important part of feature films, education-oriented software programs, health and medical information videos, brain-stimulating games to hinder the onset of dementia, software for distance learning classes, airline safety videos, military training videos, and a number of additional uses.

Talented fine artists who earn at least a bachelor’s degree in the graphic arts, game arts or a computer-related field will be in the best position to compete for the higher-paying jobs in this growing career field.
