The Pharmacy Technician program can help provide the student with techniques and practical skills they may need to obtain entry-level employment as a Pharmacy Technician in retail pharmacies, clinics, hospitals, HMOs, medical offices, medical supply houses, or pharmaceutical manufacturing firms. Pharmacy Technicians process prescriptions for patients, work with insurance companies and verify prescription information under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, as well as assist the pharmacist with everyday duties. This program can cover a variety of additional topics including daily pharmacy operational procedures, systems of measure, units of measure, pharmacology, ethics, keyboarding, pharmacy computer operations, compounding, inventory control, and pharmaceutical mathematics.
