Medical Assistant students can learn to help doctors perform diagnostic procedures, physical examinations, and minor surgical procedures. In addition students can learn to perform laboratory tests, sterilize equipment and prepare examination rooms. The program also includes administrative competencies such as scheduling patients, ordering supplies, filing insurance claims and handling phone calls. Students can learn not only to function as professional medical assistants, but also how to practice safety precautions and communicate effectively to patients and families.
