Medical Assisting: Making a Difference One Person at a Time

A medical assisting degree prepares you for a rewarding career in the fastpaced healthcare industry.

Westwood will give you the training and skills you need to support doctors and nurses in providing quality healthcare to patients.

Possible career paths in the medical assisting field include*:

  • Emergency room support Checking vital signs, starting IV treatments, transporting patients
  • Medical assistance Performing customer service/administrative duties in a medical office
  • Clinical support Prepping exam rooms, patient followup after treatment

This 17 month program takes place in lifelike settings, giving you the experience you'll need to move into the world of medical assisting. Plus, externships provide reallife handson training. Study areas include:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Medical terminology and administrative procedures
  • Minor surgical procedures
  • Principles of caring for patients
