Master of Science in Education Specialization ~ Science, Grades K - 8 This specialization is designed to help science teachers in grades K-8 build an understanding of core science concepts through experiencing the nature of the scientific process in their own learning while completing inquiry-based science investigations. After reflecting on this new knowledge, educators will consider implications for teaching. This program was created in collaboration with TERC, an educational research and development organization with funding from the U.S. Department of Education, The Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The Higher Learning Commission, which accredits Walden University, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, which accredits Walden's M.S. program in Nursing, are both recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

CHEA is an advocate for quality assurance and institutional accountability and transparency in higher education. To that end, it works actively to strengthen accreditation through recognition of 60 accrediting agencies. It is a membership organization of colleges and universities that share these goals.
