Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Interdisciplinary Studies - General

The B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies gives you a unique opportunity to define your own course of study and gain exposure to a wide range of topics. This online degree program provides a solid academic foundation as it prepares you for a successful and satisfying career across many professions. Through the B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, you have the flexibility to select two areas of disciplinary focus from Walden's undergraduate majors. Additional experiences in a seminar, internship, study abroad or service learning, and two research-driven capstone courses help you broaden your capacity to answer questions, solve problems, and address topics that are too broad to be covered by a single discipline or profession in today's complex global society.

Program offered is a Bachelor Degree.

Accreditation

Walden University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.

In addition to regional accreditation at the university level, there are professional accreditation bodies that accredit certain degree programs. However, not all programs require or are even eligible for specialized accreditation.

Walden University is listed in the U.S. Department of Education's comprehensive database of accredited postsecondary educational institutions. The database is searchable by institution name, accrediting body, and geographic region.

The Higher Learning Commission, which accredits Walden University, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, which accredits Walden's M.S. program in Nursing, are both recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

CHEA is an advocate for quality assurance and institutional accountability and transparency in higher education. To that end, it works actively to strengthen accreditation through recognition of 60 accrediting agencies. It is a membership organization of colleges and universities that share these goals.
