Medical Office Assistant

With the Medical Office Assistant program at Vatterott College, you can learn how to perform clerical and administrative functions within a medical office. You can even take it a step further with one of the Medical Assistant degree programs and acquire clinical skills as well. Either way, you can get prepared to begin a dynamic health care career.

All program options will teach you the basics of running a medical office. You will learn medical terminology and keyboarding. You can become proficient with medical accounting and insurance practices, including CPT, ICD, and HCPCS coding. You can gain understanding of how medical office software can be used to manage various aspects of the office. This includes detailed MS Office training.

The degree options expand into lab procedures, including venipuncture, hematology, and urinanalysis. You will also learn how to use and maintain lab equipment while following OSHA and CLIA regulations. The programs also teach you about physical therapy and rehabilitation procedures. You are given the opportunity to put your skills into practice with a 10-week externship. Upon completion of a degree program, you can gain certification as a Registered Medical Assistant and Registered Phlebotomist.
