The UMA Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions program trains you for entry-level employment in the Dental Assistant field, which is expected to grow 36% between 2008 and 2018. This focused, hands-on course can be completed in under a year. You'll learn to prepare patients for treatment, assist the dentist during procedures, take and process x-rays, perform laboratory procedures and assist in day-to-day office management. The program includes expanded functions, such as extended x-ray training, to ensure that students have the skills employers are looking for. After completing classroom training and a real-world externship with a local dentist, you'll receive a diploma and be ready to seek employment in a dental office.
