The purpose of the Medical Assistant program is to prepare the student with the skills necessary to perform clinically in a physician's office, handle administrative duties, assist in patient care, and perform appropriate medical procedures. These skills are referred to as front office and back office.  Examples of medical procedures that can be performed are vital signs, injections, and drawing blood.

Graduates of the Spencerian College Medical Assistant program are eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistant exam of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
