Post-Baccalaureate Elementary Education (K-6)
 Candidates seeking a Tennessee teaching license for grades K-6 who have earned a Bachelor's degree in any major are eligible to apply to the Post-Baccalaureate T.E.A.C.H. Program. Degreed individuals who are working full-time can expect course work to be offered on Saturdays and evenings.
The schedule allows individuals to remain employed prior to EDU 4090 Enhanced Student Teaching. Subsequent to professional education course completion, a student received 2 student teaching placements for 15 weeks of full-time student teaching in K-3 and 4-6 grades. Student teaching placements near residence is attempted.
The teacher licensure program is designed to be completed in 4 quarters (12 consecutive months). Candidates are enrolled as full-time students and may qualify for financial aid. No degree is awarded from South College for the completion of the Post-Baccalaureate program. The T.E.A.C.H. Post Baccalaureate program is a certification program only.
It is expected that all applicants will present a strong level of interest for teaching and demonstrate high capability for program success by satisfying admission requirements that include the following:
- 2 official transcripts from each institution of higher education attended;
- demonstration of success in their career field as shown by employer evaluations, awards, or other outstanding recognition;
- demonstration of success in academics as shown by an acceptable score from a test, such as ACT, SAT, GRE, PRAXIS, MAT, etc; and acceptable written recommendations from previous faculty and/or employers.
