MA in Clinical Psychology, Somatic Psychology Specialization - Santa Barbara
  • May be completed in as little as two years.
  • Program consists of 89 quarter units of coursework and credits and an original Master’s Project.
  • Students may choose from two convenient formats:
  • Monthly On-Campus Format: Students attend class on campus just one weekend each month (Thursday-Sunday). In addition, students participate in a six-day on-campus residency each July.

Distance Learning Format: To complete their core coursework, students take half of their classes online and half on campus -and also participate in two eight-day on-campus residencies each year (in fall and spring). Somatic psychology students take their specialty coursework through a combination of online courses and on-campus courses.

  • Program is intended for students who may already be working in clinical, healthcare, healing arts, education, or other settings -and wish to incorporate a somatic psychology perspective into their lives and work.
  • Beginning in the second year of study, in conjunction with professional practice coursework, each student completes 150 hours of fieldwork in his/her home community. Working as a trainee volunteer at an approved site (e.g. hospital, social service, non-profit organization, or another approved facility), each student receives supervision and applies skills and knowledge in direct work with clients while further developing his/her area of expertise.
  • Curriculum qualifies graduates to sit for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) Marital and Family Therapy (MFT) licensure exam.
  • Graduates are equipped with a solid foundation in somatic psychology theory as well as the critical clinical and therapeutic skills they need to be outstanding practitioners, working from a somatic psychology perspective to help their clients achieve greater physical and mental well-being.

Program offered is a Master Degree.
