Program offered is a Diploma.
The Medical Assisting with Limited X-Ray program prepares the graduate for an entry-level position in a physician's office or medical clinic. Students gain a solid foundation in both clinical skills and administrative skills, and also build valuable skills in limited radiography typical in hospital and clinical settings.
The program emphasizes the development of x-ray skills regarding the head, spine, chest, and upper and lower extremities. Safety measures, positioning techniques, and film assessment are also covered. Students learn not only in the classroom, but also in a lab that simulates the typical facilities and equipment found in a physician's office, including microscopes, EKG machines, exam tables and medical instruments.
In addition to classroom and lab instruction, students spend the last 180 hours of their program on an externship site, where, under supervision, they have the opportunity to experience firsthand the working environment they'll be entering.
