The Legal Assistant/Paralegal AAS prepares graduates for an exciting career in the legal field. Students receive thorough and integrated training in the skills needed to obtain a position as a paralegal.

Through a combination of lecture and lab, particular attention is paid to legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Students learn to draft legal documents, brief cases, organize case files, and complete computer aided legal research. Students are also well-trained in the ethical standards for paralegals and attorneys.

In addition to the classroom and lab work, each student participates in an externship. The last 180 hours of the student's program is spent in a legal setting, allowing students to apply their education in a real-world environment with the support of instructors and counselors behind them.

Optimum Completion Time : 7 terms or 70 academic weeks
