Program offered is an Associate.
PSB's Billing and Coding program provides a comprehensive education that includes classroom lecture, hands-on experience, a strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, coding, and billing. Therefore, our graduates are well-prepared to enter the field because they understand the medical conditions that each code represents.
Professionals that graduate from our program are prepared for certification and can work in places such as hospitals, doctors' offices, nursing homes, clinics, and insurance companies.
Enrollment in this program provides the student with a thorough working knowledge of the roles and responsibilities in working within a medical office. This would include record keeping, medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, human diseases and their treatments, ICD-9-CM and CPT Coding procedures, data entry skills, different kinds of insurance and regulations, and insurance software applications. The courses will prepare the student to sit for the certification exam in billing and coding, insurance and reimbursement, and/or medical administration.
The objective is to provide students with basic education to secure responsible entry-level positions in the medical administration field, working as a Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Receptionist, Medical Billing Clerk, or Medical Records Coder, or a Medical Insurance Coder among other positions.
