Overview

Founded in 1895 by the Congregation of Divine Providence, Our Lady of the Lake University is a small, Catholic, private university located in San Antonio, Texas. Built on the trust and belief in God's providence, the university follows a mission of ensuring a meaningful learning experience for all students; fostering growth spiritually, personally, and professionally; and preparing students for success and service to society. OLLU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.

The university offers the following online programs:

  • Master of Science in Organizational Leadership: Study the skills and strategies needed to develop into an inspirational, effective, and ethical leader. Coursework is interdisciplinary in nature, making this program appropriate for professionals in any field where confident stewardship is needed and valued.
  • Master of Business Administration: The program approaches advanced business studies from both a theoretical and practical standpoint, encouraging students to think about how strategies and plans can be tailored and implemented to handle various challenges and situations. A specialization in Management allows for deeper study of management principles, while Healthcare Management explores issues and strategies specifically related to the healthcare industry.
  • Master of Social Work: One of only three social work master’s degree programs in the United States that emphasizes service to Hispanic children and families, the fastest-growing demographic community in the nation. Focusing on social work across the life span, this program prepares students for social service leadership and advanced direct practice in a variety of settings and for a variety of clients, from young children to elderly adults (already the single largest group of social service recipients, and growing fast).
  • Master of Science in Nursing: Features two specializations to help you meet your career goals -
    • Nurse Administration is a multidisciplinary leadership program focused on the ethical, legal and financial responsibilities of nurse managers and executives.
    • Nurse Education is design for those who wish to pursue opportunities as adjunct professors, clinical instructors or full-time nurse educators.

In the 2011 edition of "America's Best Colleges," U.S. News & World Report ranked OLLU in Tier 1 of universities in the West. In addition, in 2010 Washington Monthly ranked the university among the top 50 master's universities in the country for contributing to the public good and ranked OLLU fourth overall among Texas master's universities.
