This program provides students with knowledge of medical terms and medical insurance procedures through a combination of interactive learning, lab, and lecture. This program will train graduates for many entry-level positions in medical insurance, forms processing, medical billing and coding, or medical forms examiner.

The objective of the Medical Coding and Billing program is to provide students with the skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment as medical coders, coding specialists, and medical billing specialists.

Students will also receive the tools and knowledge necessary to establish a medical billing service. Topics covered in the training include: medical insurance; written communications; interpersonal communication; law, ethics, medicine; patient confidentiality; medical and body systems terminology; advanced terminology and pharmacology; medical filing; records management; math and financial management; PC basics; word processing; CPT-4, ICD-9, and HCPCS coding; and insurance form preparation. Students must have a high school diploma or GED to enroll in this program.
