Career Opportunities in Medical Assisting

Medical Assistants are multi-skilled professionals who have a broad range of responsibilities in the ambulatory health care setting. As a Medical Assistant, graduates can expect to assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, working side-by-side in direct patient care. Some of the many clinical duties that a Medical Assistant may perform include administration of medication, preparing and assisting in patient examinations, phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, and waived diagnostic laboratory testing. Administratively, medical Assistants may have the responsibility of scheduling appointments, making referrals upon the provider's request, billing and coding, filing and maintenance of patient's medical records, accepting and posting patient payments, and applying managed care policies.

The classes in this program can prepare you to successfully complete the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) examination.
