Nursing BSN B.S.

Program offered is a Bachelor.

Registered nurses (RN) comprise the largest group of health care workers. Most RNs work directly with patients and their families. They are the primary point of contact between the patient and the world of health care, both at the bedside and in out-patient settings. Because the RN is in much more regular contact with patients than are physicians, the RN is usually first to notice problems or raise concerns about patient progress. The RN evaluates, plans, and administers nursing care to patients, provides prescribed medication and treatment, and aides the physician or nurse practitioner during exams and treatment. The RN also monitors patient care provided by LPNs, nursing assistants, and others. A Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree is received after completing a four-year college or university program that qualifies a graduate to take a national licensing exam to become a registered nurse.
