The goal of Morrison University is to provide competitive industry knowledge, skills, and competencies to meet the needs of the Northern Nevada Business Community.

Since 1902, Morrison University has been offering business-related education and training to Nevadans. Founded by A.F. Atkinson as Nevada Business Institute, the original campus was located at the southwest corner of Sierra and Walnut (6th) Streets.

Heald's Business College of California purchased Nevada Business Institute in August 1907 and began offering classes that fall. With emphasis on individual instruction, students could take classes in many professional fields. A fire swept through the College in 1945, and it was remodeled into a modern business school in 1949.

Don S. Thompson, a Nevada native, purchased Reno Business College in 1964. In 1969, he moved the College to the corner of Wells Avenue and Wonder Street. MJM Colleges, Inc. and Mary Morrison (who remained president of the university until 2003) purchased Reno Business College in 1979. In 1984, the College was relocated to 140 Washington Street.

Morrison University has a 103-year history of service to residents of the state of Nevada. Morrison University is a branch campus of Neumont University, South Jordan, UT. Neumont University, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Neumont Holdings, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, whose principal offices are located at 10701 South River Front Parkway, Suite 300, South Jordan, Utah 84095. Neumont Holdings, LLC Officers include Graham Y. Doxey, President, and Maurine A. Findley, Executive Vice President.

Morrison University provides academic programs designed to meet the needs of students in developing marketable skills, which enable them to establish careers in business, professional, and technical fields.

An independent educational institution, Morrison University is dedicated to providing high quality education leading to Associate Degrees, Bachelor of Science Degrees, and a Master of Business Administration Degree.

The University recognizes that education is a lifelong endeavor, which enriches the quality of life as well as individual professional achievement. Therefore, the academic programs at Morrison University are designed for individuals whose educational and professional needs may best be met with a specialized business curriculum and enhanced by an academic emphasis on analysis, understanding and cognitive development.

In 1990, Morrison University was accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) as a senior college.
