Financial Aid
Distance learning students are eligible for federal and state aid programs
- Planning to enroll in our Fall 2008, Spring 2009 or Summer 2009 Term?
To be considered for federal financial aid (including loans) in our Fall 2008, Spring 2009 or Summer 2009 Term, you must complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using your 2007 federal tax return information. The deadline to submit a 2008-2009 FAFSA web application is 12 a.m. (CT), June 30, 2009.
- Planning to enroll in BOTH Summer 2009 and Fall/Spring 2009-2010 Terms?
To be considered for federal financial aid (including loans) for classes next summer as well as in the following school year, you must complete both a 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 FAFSA. You must use your 2007 federal tax return information to complete the 2008-2009 FAFSA, and your 2008 federal tax return information to complete the 2009-2010 FAFSA. The deadline to submit a 2008-2009 FAFSA web application is 12 a.m. (CT), June 30, 2009.
The following outlines the steps that are necessary to apply for all financial aid:
- Apply for Federal Student Aid
- Apply for Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) Virginia residents only
- Apply for Stafford Loan
- Review Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Review Award Letter
Step 1. Apply for Federal Student Aid
Within the completion of your online FAFSA, request for the Department of Education to submit data from your completed FAFSA application to Liberty University. To do so, simply list Liberty University (school code 010392) in the required section located at the beginning of the FAFSA application. When first beginning the FAFSA, make sure you have acquired your PIN (Personal Identification Number)
Step 2. Apply for Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG)
This grant is only available to Virginia residents. Review the VTAG Application for details and deadlines. To Apply for the VTAG, the application must be printed, completed in full, and then mailed to the financial aid office:

Step 3. Apply for a Loan (Online)
Liberty University accepts loans to help pay for your education
Step 4. Receive Your Student Aid Report (SAR)
Liberty University, as well as yourself, will receive a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR). The information provided within your SAR will be used to determine your financial award for the entire academic year. After your financial aid award is determined, we will send you an offical email award notice listing all estimated financial aid for which you are eligible to receive.
Step 5. Review Your Award Letter online
To review your financial aid award letter online, login to your ASIST account and then click on Student & Financial Aid. Click on Financial Aid and then review your official financial aid awards. Notify financial aid of any necessary changes.
