Advanced Start BS in Health and Wellness

The online Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness degree can open the door   to a lifetime of career opportunities in health care- and health and   wellness-related industries. It also offers you a solid foundation for graduate   study or first-professional degrees.

The program's curriculum prepares you with content knowledge and skills, including overall concepts, values, research methods, and applications.

Many approaches to health and wellness are explored, integrating the mind, body, and spirit. You'll learn to critically evaluate the scientific literature and research in wellness, prevention, and complementary health care; then discover how to use this knowledge to educate individuals and communities.

You'll develop the administrative, ethical, and professional skills necessary for leadership positions, and gain the foundational knowledge and skills to build additional competencies.

Three emphasis area options are available for the Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness: pregraduate/preprofessional, nutrition, and health science.

Pregraduate/Preprofessional Emphasis: Builds on the major course requirements and explores specific health science arenas, such as biochemistry and immunology. The goal is to help you pursue graduate study of health care and health science, or first-professional degrees such as the MD, DO, or OD.

Nutrition Emphasis: Promotes an in-depth understanding and application of food and nutrition science, as well as the latest recommendations for health promotion and disease prevention. This emphasis area can prepare you for a career in private or public work settings.

Health Science Emphasis: Explores specific health science arenas, such as public health, environmental health, and health care administration. This emphasis will help you pursue a career in the health science or health care fields, or in future graduate study.

Who Should Take This Program?
Students who have earned an AAS, AS, AA, BA, or BS degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college should take this program. Degrees and credits considered to be remedial, occupational, or specialized may not be accepted for transfer under this option. Individuals interested in broadening their knowledge and skills with a mind-body-spirit approach to health and wellness should pursue the Advanced Start Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness.
