Pharmacy Technician Certificate
Pharmacy Technicians play an important role in providing essential health care services in their communities. They order and receive medications and pharmaceutical supplies. They utilize specialized software to maintain patient profiles, prescription orders, and inventories. Pharmacy Technicians compound prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring, and mixing the quantities of drugs and other ingredients required. They assist pharmacists by ordering, packaging and labeling pharmaceutical products and by maintaining prescription records and inventories of medication and pharmaceutical products. Working with the registered Pharmacist, pharmacy technicians demonstrate tact and excellent judgment to ensure confidentiality of sensitive information. Upon graduation, Pharmacy Technicians can work in either a community, clinic or hospital pharmacy. Job opportunities also exist in government health departments, insurance and pharmaceutical companies. Some common job titles include: pharmacy technician, pharmacy technical assistant, and pharmacy aide. |
