This program teaches the necessary skills for applications and treatment goals of muscular and general relaxation, stress reduction, pain management, recovery from injury, health promotion, education, and body awareness. The successful practitioner must, therefore, be proficient at more than a simple massage; he or she must understand the body and its functions, master a variety of techniques, and hone such skills as client assessment, communication, and self-evaluation. Upon completion of this program, students may transfer all earned credits toward the Therapeutic and Clinical Massage - Associate of Applied Science degree program.
Career & Skills
An Harrison College Certificate is an excellent way to enter a career in Therapeutic Massage. If you choose to go on and pursue an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Therapeutic and Clinical Massage, many or all of your previously earned credits will be applied toward the continued program at Harrison College. As with any additional college, entering the Therapeutic Massage field with an AAS typically offers a wider variety of job opportunities, a more direct path to management level positions, and a higher starting salary.
