Surgical Technologists are members of a surgical team. They work under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses or other surgical personnel. They can also be called "scrubs", "surgical technicians" or "operating room technicians".

They are responsible for assisting before, during, and after surgery. Some of their job duties will be to prepare the operating room for the procedure, including setting up both sterile and non-sterile instruments, equipment, drapes and solutions. They must possess knowledge of various surgical procedures and the ability to identify the different medications used during the procedure correctly, and be able to prepare for the end-of-case clean-up. Additionally, they also prepare patients prior to the procedure.
