This program is designed to prepare the graduate for entry-level employment as a Medical Office Administrator in medical offices, clinics, and hospitals.
Program Objectives Upon completion, the graduate will possess working knowledge in the elements of Medical Assisting and Medical Coding & Billing including medical terminology, anatomy, human diseases, pharmacology, basic medical office procedures and clinical medical assisting skills. Students will learn front office procedures such as handling patient accounts and records, word processing, and scheduling of patients. The program includes courses in medical documentation, and assigning and sequencing diagnostic and procedural codes using universally recognized coding systems. The student will also learn back office procedures such as taking patient histories and vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, assisting the physician with examinations and treatments, and performing selected diagnostic tests as directed by the physician. The medical assistant technician will also learn basic medical laboratory and X-ray procedures. |
