Medical Assistants have become an important part of the health care team and their responsibilities continue to expand, as the need for their expertise grows.
The objective of the Medical Assisting program is to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to qualify for entry-level positions as Medical Assistants.
You will be prepared to maintain the highest quality of patient care; take vital signs, run laboratory and diagnostic tests, all while utilizing your organization, communication and management skills. Gain employment in a hospital, clinic, doctor´s office, nursing home, medical supply business, home healthcare agency, insurance company or pharmaceutical company.
Medical Assisting Class Hands-on learning includes:
- Patient care and communication
- Clinical assisting and pharmacology
- Medical insurance, bookkeeping and health sciences
- Cardiopulmonary procedures
- Laboratory procedures
- Endocrinology and reproduction
- Therapeutic care
Upon completion of the required coursework, students participate in a 160-clock-hour externship. |
