Plainfield, New Jersey, stands a very
unique structure. What makes it so unique
is that within its walls is one of the
only pure diesel mechanics school in the
country. Engine City Technical Institute
was established in 1969.
Engine City, a
one of a kind school, has a curriculum
that focuses on commercial and industrial
diesel. The school trains the students
in the construction, reconstruction and
maintenance of transmissions, engines,
refrigeration units, internal computers,
suspension systems, clutches and ABS brake
systems.
Engine City is
proud of the fact that they are one of
the first schools in the country to offer
an electronic engine course where the
experienced mechanic can upgrade skills
and receive instruction on intricacies
of the cutting edge technology in today's
modern equipment. Classes are equipped
with actual engines that the students
completely disassemble, reassemble, tune
and bring into running status while under
the guidance of professional instructors.
Small classes average
20 or less students with an average over
50 percent actual hands on education brings
each student to the highest levels of
professionalism in their chosen field.
