With you supply chain management major you can learn to be responsible for helping a business succeed.  You will work to get the best supplies at the lowest cost to the company so that you can turn that product around and make a profit on it.  It is highly important to understand finances, marketing and communications to be a successful supply chain manager of any type.  As a professional purchaser and distributer, you will be to strategically lead the business you are employed by into great success.  Not only can you excel in your area of business but you can also have many opportunities to be promoted and take on more responsibilities.

With your supply chain management major there are various jobs that you could apply for.  At the beginning of your career you could become a fulfillment supervisor.  This is when you would be responsible for the actual productivity of the employees and the products that are being handled.  You will help with protocol and standards that are to be followed and make certain that all customers are satisfied and that their orders are correct.  Another beginning job would be an analyst of the supply chain process for a company.  This is basically a data person who finds problems in the supply chain of the company and offers solutions to fix the problems.  

Another job you could apply for after completing your supply chain management major is a warehouse manager over the operations.  Basically, you will oversee the operations of the warehouse.  All storage, outgoing and incoming products will be under your jurisdiction.   This job is built upon employee training and customer satisfaction. When items are accurately shipped out and products are stored correctly, the business is succeeding. 

Once you have finished your supply chain management major, there are a few positions that require you to be employed for quite a few years so that you can have an ample amount of training under your belt.  One position like this is known as the vice president of supply chain management.  With a title like this, you will normally work in a larger corporation and you will be over the entire supply chain division.  You will be in charge of all of the hiring and firing of management personnel as well as assisting with any of the needs that they may have.
