The most basic form of education in the field of logistics is the applied science degree, also referred to as the associate's degree. This degree path typically takes 2 years or less to complete. Unlike the more advanced logistics degrees, these programs can usually be completed at a community college or vocational school. If you're not yet sure that a career in logistics will be right for you, the associate's degree can be a good introduction.

The next level of education offered by logistics management schools is the bachelor's degree, which typically takes four years to complete. Programs resulting in a bachelor's degree in logistics management are typically offered by traditional colleges and universities. If you're already enrolled in an associate's degree program for logistics, you might be able to transfer your existing credits toward a bachelor's degree to help save you time and money in the future. The bachelor's degree program will allow you to gain valuable experience in traffic management and freight claims.

It's important to realize that today's job market is very crowded, and if you're going to land a job in logistics, you'll have to make sure that you've obtained an education that will enable you to stand out from the crowd. According to U.S. News and World Report, there are several schools that are known for producing graduates that go on to successful careers in logistics and supply chain management. Some of the top logistics management schools include; Auburn University, the University of Maryland, and Lehigh University. There are also many accredited online classes and distance learning programs that offer logistics degrees as well.
