Positions in areas such as airplanes, agriculture and computer manufacturing are all possible for graduates. There are many different types of training and career possibilities offered within industrial technology schools.

Training focuses on key area of developing knowledge in the areas that include technologies, fields systems, resources and products. Each area drives the specific field forward and the opportunities aid point students in the right direction for their desired career. Students obtain knowledge in data collection practices, biometric standards, industrial machining processes and bioinformatics. Students gain knowledge about how products work, how they are manufactured and methods of improving them. The vocational colleges focus on students' understanding of quality control, productivity improvement, optimizing products and logistics management. Students may choose from training in form at various levels including certificates, associate, bachelor or master degrees. Only certificates and associates degrees are offered from vocational schools.

Students are prepared to enter careers after taking high level business and technical related subjects. Students who earn a certificate or an associate's degree have possible career opportunities such as project managers, cost estimators and quality control technicians. Students earning an industrial management associates degree learn the fundamentals of complex systems that make up professional work. They also learn the operational procedures for quality control and safety and this prepares them for work requiring planning, design, operation, and engineering skills. The coursework at the industrial technology schools also consists of mathematics and a variety of technical subject matter. Other subject studied included technical writing, machine tool operation, chemistry, circuit analysis and occupational safety.

When attending industrial technical schools, students also have the opportunity to enter into concentrated programs that include maintenance, management and quality control. If student chooses to concentrate on quality control, the coursework teaches the duties performed to decrease the possibility of errors when making a product. Manufacturing standards are analyzed at every production step to give students a solid understanding of how to improve the creation process. If students want to enter into positions that oversee industrial technology may want to consider a management program. In this type of program, management strategies and theories are explored and students are taught fundamental production steps used in operational logistics.
