Colleges offer several different options in industrial technology certificates that focus on providing in-depth training to diversify and strengthen your skills and knowledge in manufacturing, agriculture, the processing industry and industrial technology. The student can expect to acquire skills in the applied industrial maintenance, process technologies, manufacturing technologies, mechanical and electrical systems and manufacturing foundational skills. There are several options in certificate programs and they vary by college, but whatever you choose will help you find a job or gain skills needed to advance in the position you have at this time. With technology always evolving, employees need highly skilled industrial technology.

Computerized machine operators are in demand and many colleges offer industrial technology certificates programs that allow students to learn CNC machine basics. Students learn the skills and knowledge to needed to become a computerized machining center operator. Some certificate also include courses in CNC machine shop intermediate, CNC machine shop advanced as well as MasterCAM automated product methods. Students will earn a certificate to document their advanced machining skills. Employer will know you have the skills and knowledge is takes to successfully work as a computerized machine operator. Some college may also offer job assistance programs to help you find work after graduation.

Another option for an industrial technology certificate is the combination welder certificate. Students will learn skills required to become a combination welder. The areas of study include MIG welding, stick welding, TIG welding, AWS welding and structural blueprint reading. The electrical specialist certificate is part of the industrial technology program and teaches students skills required to become an electrical specialist. Program includes instruction in AC/DC electrical currents, programmable logic controllers and motors and motor controllers.

Other industrial technology certificate programs may include career welding, backflow prevention and computer aided design certificates. The career welding program is an intensive training program to give students helpful hands-on practice as a skilled horizontal and flat position MIG and Flux-Cored Inner Shield welder. Students will also learn to read fabricate structural components and blue prints. In the backflow prevention course, students learn installation and prevention methods associated with water connection services. With the computer aided design certificate students learn programs such as AutoCAD I and II as well as AutoDesk Inventor. Students learn skills required to be a successful computer aided drafter and designer.

Depending on the certificate program students may also be required to take math courses such as applied algebra and trigonometry as well as metrology. Computer courses and classes in manufacturing may also be required. Talk with an admission counselor at the college you wish to attend to learn more about the technology certificate programs they offer and the courses required to complete the program. Information and requirement will vary by college as will cost and tuition payment options. The majority of colleges offer some sort of financial assistance or scholarships to help those who are in need of financial assistance.
