Military education programs are included among the numerous benefits provided to active-duty military personnel and veterans. Some education benefits extend to military spouses and children as well. The Montgomery G.I. Bill and Post-9/11 G.I. Bill provide a plethora of opportunities for service members to earn an undergraduate or graduate college degree, or to enroll in higher education training and vocational classes. Each branch of the military has established its own set of specific requirements for many of these education benefits. However, in general, military students are supported in their pursuit of higher education through military education counselors, military-friendly traditional and online schools, and generous G.I. bill funding. Federal funding often includes enough education monies to pay for housing and other living costs, in addition to regular education expenses. Military students are generally able to take college classes and earn their college degrees for free.
