An executive accounting diploma will give you the foundation that you need in order to get into the accounting field. The curriculum for the diploma will cover the fundamentals of accounting, and prepare you to obtain a job at entry level in accounting. You won't be an actual accountant, but you will be able to work in the accounting field. You may be qualified to be an accounting assistant or an office assistant inside of an accounting firm. If you decide to keep attending your school of choice, some of them will even allow you to apply your diploma credits towards getting a higher degree, such as an associate's or a bachelor's degree.
An executive accounting diploma is different than a certificate. A certificate in executive accounting will give you the very basic skills that you need. You'll have better success at finding a job in the accounting field with a diploma, since a diploma program will go much deeper into what you need to know in order to succeed at accounting. Since everything is computerized in this world, you will hardly have to work with calculators and do things by hand. Good math skills are necessary, but a diploma program will train you in using accounting software programs.
You will also learn other important skills, such as how to manage long term sources of income, how to budget, general financial management and capital management. You will also learn how to read financial printouts and how to code finances for your particular company. There is a lot of computer work involved in executive accounting. Sometimes you will be required to post information online as well, into databases or even the company website. An executive accounting diploma will prepare you to do all of this and more. You will only get a general understanding of all functions of accounting, but you will have the understanding required in order to succeed at your job.
An executive accounting diploma can be used as a sort of "minor" accomplishment to support your current occupation. For example, if you're a secretary or an office assistant, but you have a diploma in executive accounting, you could qualify for a raise in salary because of your skills, even if you aren't using them. Or you could use the diploma to further your career. Perhaps you can switch to another department at your current company. You may even qualify for a managerial position.
