I Want to Teach Electronics

In order to teach electronics, you need to have a degree in electronics to start. Most schools that offer electronics instruction require their instructors to have at least a bachelor's degree. You will find both online and on campus programs that will give you the degree you need to fulfill your statement of "I want to teach electronics." These programs often meet in the evenings or over the weekend so you can fit it around your work and personal life. Focus on finding a program that will offer you the knowledge you need to teach others about electronics.

You can start out with an associate's degree in electronics technology. An associate's degree is a good way to get the electronics basics. You learn how electricity works and how circuits work. Those are the basics of how electronics do their work at the circuit board level. You will learn the mechanics of resistors, transistors, and switches. When you have all the pieces, you can move forward into learning how companies build circuit boards of all sorts. That gives you the knowledge you need to diagnose and make repairs to all sorts of electronics. That is essential to your statement of "I want to teach electronics."

You can follow up with a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering technology. After you master the basics of electricity and the way it works in electronics, the next step is learning how it applies to various advanced electronics. You will learn how analog and digital systems work at the circuit level. You will learn how electronics can control mechanical systems. You will learn about signal processing, both analog and digital. Many courses will introduce basic programming and the way it relates to electronics. Many also teach about microprocessor architecture. You will need all that to fulfill your statement of "I want to teach electronics."

If you already hold another degree, you should consider getting a certificate program in electronics. A degree means you already have the basic training that schools expect from instructors. You need the extra training in electronics to get the expertise you will need to make your statement of "I want to teach electronics" happen. When you complete the diploma program, you can start looking for potential education opportunities where you can spread your knowledge to others. However, you need to have your ducks in a row first.

Before you can teach, you may need to take some teaching courses to get that side of your skills up to speed. Knowing your topic is essential to being a teacher. However, learning how to teach it to someone else is another story. You can find classes online that can teach you to develop a course on electronics. It means breaking down the topic into smaller areas that you then bring together to teach specific areas of expertise. This is the final step before you fulfill your statement of "I want to teach electronics." All you need to do is get your training underway and you will be on your way.
