When you have chosen the college that you want to attend and you have everything in line, it is now time to begin your audio video production studies. There are quite a few courses that you will need to take. Some schools may call them by different names, but they are all basic in what is taught. Take time to fully research your school's study guidelines and make sure you are scheduled for all of the appropriate courses so that you can graduate exactly when you need to.
As soon as you begin in your audio video production studies, you will learn the basics. For some people this may seem monotonous and boring because they already know the information. However, it is important that colleges do this so that everyone is on the same playing field and has a fair chance. A class may include the foundations of video that might teach basic video technology, equipment and composition as well as very basic techniques for lighting. Also, you will most commonly learn about recording and audio. Many times this will include microphones and basic characteristics of sound. Overall, what you learn the first semester will be very broad and basic.
After learning the basics and maybe even being refreshed, your audio video production studies will then move on to allow you to become more hands-on with your learning. You will be introduced to production equipment and be required to learn all of the parts and how to properly use it. You will learn how to use cameras, audio equipment, computer software and graphic animation. During this time, you will be preparing to be accepted into the higher and more advanced courses. Overall, your first two to four semesters will be reiterating what you know and teaching you more detail.
Once you achieve the lower and mid-ranking courses, you will then move on to higher audio video production studies. This will entail having the wonderful opportunity to identify who you want to be in the audio video production world and make connections with production companies to lock down an internship. With an internship in audio video production, you will more than likely become employed once you graduate from the program. This is the ultimate goal. It may seem like many hours of work yet, when you put your time and effort into becoming fully educated in the audio video production field; you will more than likely have a lifetime career ahead of you.
