Many people, who love art, will decide to attend an art school.  Before choosing which one to attend, it is important to take a close look at the best art schools.  A school can be considered the best because of its location, the cost to attend and what kind of degrees or programs offered.  Make sure you understand those details before making the ultimate decision.  There are many art schools throughout the United States, but one only will end up being the best for you.

The best art schools are generally located in urban or city areas.  This is because there are many people in those areas that live an artistic life and also there is more opportunity to have the best instructors.  Schools in places like Chicago, Maryland, New York, Rhode Island, and Los Angeles are all popular locations for artists and generally are in the top ten lists of art schools.  However, it is possible to find wonderful art schools in locations such as Virginia.  No matter where you live or aspire to go to school, keep in mind that the cost will greatly vary if you live in state or out of state at a University and private schools generally cost more than public.  

While researching the best art schools and looking at the lists of all of the best schools, make sure you realize that the number one school on the list may not be the number one school for you.  This is because they may not be top school for the art style or medium that you want dedicate yourself to.  Also, they may not give you the kind of degree you want.  There are three basic types of programs a school will offer.  These are specialized programs (attained at a fine arts school and a four year degree), liberal arts programs (a four year degree that will give you less studio work in a specific medium), and vocational programs (generally given in the form of an associate of arts and takes two years to acquire).  

No matter how much you want to pay, where the school is located or what degree you are looking to get, make sure that the art school you are looking at has an upstanding reputation.  The best art schools will teach you the basics of art and help you go out into the world and attain a position with art and design once you graduate.
