The Surgical Processing Technician Program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to receive and process supplies and equipment from operating rooms and nursing units throughout the hospital. The training involves decontamination, sterilization, and preparation and assembling of instruments for distribution. Proper patient treatment is essential, and thus these processes take place clean environments in the designated Central Supply/Sterile Processing departments of hospitals.
Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the Certified Registered Service Technician examination, as the program meets the requirements of IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management).
