Biomedical
Engineering Technology (BS)
As the health care field and technology's role
in diagnostic, therapeutic and research activities continue
to expand, so too will the need for biomedical engineering
technology professionals. These technologists with a foundation-level
understanding of biological processes and skills in both engineering
software and hardware are essential to this multidisciplinary
field, in which engineering technology principles are applied
to solve problems in medicine and biology.
By providing a firm foundation
in biological sciences as well as core competencies required
of electronics engineering technologists, DeVry's Biomedical
Engineering Technology (BMET) program develops graduates who
can enter the work force as technical professionals with competencies
in bioengineering processes and tools. BMET graduates play
essential roles on the biomedical team, typically designing
and implementing hardware and software solutions to biological
or medical problems. The curriculum is applications-oriented
in the areas of physiological bioinstrumentation and informatics,
and provides graduates with the knowledge and skills needed
to function effectively in multidisciplinary teams, adapt
to changes in technical environments throughout their careers
and progress in their professional responsibilities. Request More Information
Biomedical
Informatics (BS)
The interdisciplinary field of biomedical informatics
draws on computer technology, information technology, the
biosciences and health care systems. Significant breakthroughs
in biological research have produced a barrage of data worldwide
in areas such as genome analysis that hold the promise for
a healthier future. At the same time, the need for expanded
efficient and effective health care in today's global society
is spurring continued growth in health care businesses while
creating demand for technological advances and improved health
care delivery systems. To continue these advances, the biomedical
community requires expert support in collecting, organizing,
sharing, analyzing and disseminating biomedical data and information.
To this end, DeVry designed
its Biomedical Informatics (BMI) program to prepare graduates
for professional positions in bioinformatics and health care
informatics. Bioinformatics focuses on developing and managing
information systems used in areas such as genomic research,
forensics, and pharmaceutical and agricultural development.
Health care informatics combines knowledge of information
technology, health care systems and life sciences to develop
effective and efficient use of information to implement improved
health care systems. Request

software development, hardware and engineering skills, and
apply their expertise in diverse areas such as multiprocessor
architecture, parallel computing, distributed computing, real-time
systems, embedded systems, local and wide area networks, multimedia
and the World Wide Web.
The Computer Engineering
Technology (CET) program (Computer Technology program in New
York) prepares graduates to join the work force as technical
professionals in a variety of industries, including information
technology. CET graduates take a hands-on approach to designing
and implementing software, interfaces that link computers
to other physical systems, and computer systems or other digital
subsystems. They design software systems; create code and
protocols; test and evaluate hardware and software products
and processes; and diagnose and solve problems. Graduates
should also possess appropriate knowledge, experience and
skills to function effectively in multidisciplinary teams,
adapt to changes in technical environments throughout their
careers and progress in their professional responsibilities.

Technical
Management (BS Degree Completion)
Getting the right education is critical to
moving ahead in today's fast-paced business world. Entering
the work force as soon as possible after gaining a basic educational
foundation is often necessary in order to meet financial and
family responsibilities. But to get ahead in an increasingly
complex and competitive work environment, more advanced education
is necessary. For many adults, returning to the classroom
full time is not possible. Time pressures make it difficult
to enhance academic credentials while still fulfilling personal
and professional commitments.
To meet the special needs
of adult students, DeVry developed its bachelor's-degree-completion
program in Technical Management. The curriculum helps students
with qualifying prior college experience add an important
credential - a bachelor's degree - to their resume. The program
also facilitates students' advancement to supervisory or management
positions in their chosen field of specialization, enabling
them to reap greater career and financial rewards.
