Businesses need system solutions and processes that give them one degree of separation from their customer (business-to-consumer). They need systems that can communicate with other business systems (business-to-business) and efficiently manage critical information. As companies transition from traditional business models to e-business enterprises, individuals who understand the application of e-business solutions and processes will be in demand.

The Bachelor of Science in e-Business (BSeB) degree program introduces you to the evolving electronic business paradigm. It is designed to prepare you for a professional career managing the technologies that enable an organization to engage in business between businesses and consumers. An integrated curriculum enables you to develop the ability to design, implement and manage applications dealing with e-business. You are exposed to the conventional and electronic marketplace, including the global marketplaces surrounding the e-business environment. Courses include legal and regulatory issues, and security techniques and technologies. Program content is designed to develop business management ability, customer relationship management and technological skills, which are complemented by courses in humanities, social science and professional communication.

What skills can I learn?

Students who successfully complete the BSeB degree program should be able to:

  • Communicate in written and verbal modes of communication.
  • Discern the impact e-business has on an organization: internally, with employees, and externally with suppliers and customers.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the marketing process and concept as applied to e-business.
  • Demonstrate the use of various tools and techniques, including HTML, XHTML, and Internet Explorer, and employ current web browsers, text editing, and graphics composition skills to design and develop interactive web pages.
  • Create a project proposal that includes the scope, feasibility, significance and timeline of the project.
  • Produce a timeline for a project utilizing project management software.
  • Develop software programs that demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and development of applications that access and update a database.

The rapid spread of computers and information technology has generated a need for highly trained workers to capitalize on the capabilities of the technologies. The growth of the Internet has also generated a variety of occupations related to the design, development and maintenance of websites and their servers.
