| Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration Concentration in Accounting
The Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration (AASBA) with a concentration in Accounting is designed to equip you with a variety of basic accounting skills that will be useful in an entry-level accounting position. The curriculum provides you with an opportunity to develop the intellectual, interpersonal and communication skills that are needed to succeed in the business world.
What skills can I learn?
Students who successfully complete the AASBA with a concentration in Accounting should be able to:
- Apply the knowledge and skills of accounting, management, business mathematics, and the liberal arts to identify, resolve, and communicate relevant accounting issues.
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the importance of the moral standards embodied in the professional code of ethics.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate in written and verbal modes of communication.
- Manage a complete set of accounts for a small to moderate-size organization.
- Show the ability to formulate and resolve complex problems independently and creatively.
What are some possible career opportunities?
This program is designed to prepare you for entry-level career opportunities in both the private and public sectors. In addition to being able to manage a complete set of accounts for a small to moderate-size organization, you could also be employed as a financial analyst, cost analyst or as an office manager in a small company. However, most accountant and auditor positions require at least a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
