BS in Financial Forensics

Curriculum is focused on helping career-motivated professionals wishing to combine a solid foundation in Finance and Accounting with the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the field of financial investigations.

Colorado Tech Online is pleased to announce the addition of a Bachelor of Science in Financial Forensics for students interested in building industry-current credentials in financial regulations and statutes, finance and accounting concepts and criminal investigations.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, faster-than-average growth of accountant and auditor jobs will result from an increase in the number of businesses, changing financial laws and regulations, and greater scrutiny of company finances.*

As a result of recent financial scandals, reported increases in fraud in the workplace, and heightened concerns over money laundering and terrorist financing, legislative mandates have increased the demand for professionals who can detect and deter fraud within organizations.

In response to the increase in demand for professionals who can detect and deter fraud within organizations, courses are focused on teaching students how to:

  • Identify, formulate, and communicate the relevant financial investigation issues in post 911 era.
  • Prepare, comprehend and interpret the required financial statements according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Apply the knowledge and skills of finance, accounting, management, mathematics, criminal justice and the liberal arts to identify, resolve, and communicate relevant financial forensics issues.
  • Develop a plan for the detection and prevention of financial fraud.
  • and many more career-related skills.

This Bachelor of Science degree program features courses including: Forensic Accounting, Financial Investigations, Money Laundering Detection and Reporting and many others. Coursework is structured to give the students the critical skills required to participate in the investigation of money laundering, terrorist financing and forensic accounting investigations.

Courses are taught by instructors with experience in the emerging trends of fraud investigation. Students can benefit from their relevant perspectives and professional insights as they acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a diverse range of in-demand positions, including: Forensic Accountant, Fraud Examiner, Financial Crimes Investigator, Bank Secrecy Act Manager, and many others.
