In response to numerous corporate and accounting scandals that affected millions of people, the U.S. Congress passed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in 2002, setting forth new standards for the way organizations govern themselves and disclose their auditing practices.

This legislation is expected not only to have a dramatic impact on the way organizations operate but also the career opportunities it creates for dedicated professionals who have obtained an up-to-date knowledge of current accounting standards and practices.

To meet the growing demand for professionals with real-world skills, Colorado Technical University developed an online Bachelor of Science in Accounting (BSACC) degree that can be earned in just 15 months*. This degree program is designed to prepare students with an understanding of corporate accounting, taxation, governmental and not-for-profit accounting, and auditing.

Students enrolling in this curriculum will study course content that focuses on developing critical problem-solving skills in accounting and management. Successful graduates will demonstrate the ability to prepare, comprehend and interpret the required financial statements according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

The program is designed for students wishing to pursue careers as General Accountants, Controllers, Budget Analysts, Loan Officers, Personal Financial Advisors, and many other in-demand positions.

Courses are taught via Colorado Tech Online's revolutionary CLIMB™ Learning System and include:

Colorado Tech Online students with no previous college or military training can complete the Bachelor of Science in Accounting (BSACC) degree program online in about 2 1/2 years. Students with prior college credit, military experience or an Associate's Degree may be eligible for the Colorado Tech Online Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program. In some cases, this may shorten the length of the degree program to 15 months*.

*The 15-month Bachelor's degree is a 2+2 program and assumes that all associate-level requirements have been met through an Associate's degree or the equivalent. CTU Online students with no previous college experience can complete this degree in about 2.5 years.
