The Anesthesia Technology degree program will teach you to provide a supporting role to an anesthesiologist in a clinical setting. Duties of an anesthesiology technologist include monitoring patients during anesthesia administration, assisting with intubations, preparing patients for treatment, explaining procedures to families, and providing other assistance. Anesthesia technologists must be familiar with medical terminology and understand clinical care and surgical procedures.
Upon completion of this degree program, you should be able to assist an anesthesiologist in providing treatment by assisting with administration of general and local anesthesia, physically and mentally preparing the patient for treatment, and assisting in the transportation and positioning of patients under anesthesia.
