Medical Administrative Assistants are a vital part of the medical office setting; they are responsible for running a medical office, maintaining medical records, scheduling multiple patients and understanding patient needs. Many medical office managers begin their careers as medical administrative assistants.
The Medical Administrative Assistant Program prepares students for employment in a variety of medical office and clinical settings. A Medical Administrative Assistant Certification will prepare a student to perform tasks such as patient scheduling, billing, coding, reception, office accounting and filling. Safety precautions are an important element of the Medical Administrative Assistant Certification; learning CPR and basic clinical tasks give graduates the needed skills for preparing patients for examinations. The blended skill set of the Medical Administrative Assistant Certification will increase versatility and contribution to the medical office setting.
To best prepare for employment in the Medical Administrative Assistant field, students will apply and refine their skills in a real-world, in- field externships (120 hours).
