CompTIA Linux+
CompTIA Linux+ certification can help you maximize your knowledge and value as a networking professional. The program is designed to measure the vendor-neutral Linux knowledge and skills of the Linux professional and is recommended for IT professionals and enthusiasts who aim to develop a fundamental knowledge of installing, configuring and using the Linux operating system.
The concepts introduced in this program represent the type of knowledge that a Linux user would possess after 6 months of experience. The Linux+ program will familiarize students with Linux specific applications such as Samba and StarOffice. During the course of study, students will gain hands-on exposure to two of the latest distributions of the Linux operating system: Mandrake and Red Hat.
Successful candidates will gain the skills and expertise to:
- Plan and install Linux, configure the desktop, hardware and applications.
- Configure basic network services and settings (e.g., netconfig, linuxconf; settings for TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP)
- Perform Linux administration, such as creating users, modifying users, setting environment variables, and backing up data and printing.
- Understand Linux's open source licensing, system maintenance: monitoring log files and downloading patches.
