The Medical Assistant program consists of 600 hours of classroom training and a 300 hour externship performed at a medical clinic or doctor's office. The program teaches front office administrative duties and back office laboratory procedures. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will have the skills required for employment in a doctor's office or medical clinic as a medical assistant. Get the skills needed to install and configure PC hardware such as disks, memory and network adapters, and operating systems such as Windows and DOS. Learn how to install Microsoft Office, set up printing, and troubleshoot common problems relating to Microsoft Office and email, as well as implement and administer Microsoft Windows network infrastructure and operating systems. You'll also understand the fundamentals of computer networking, including:
- LANs
- WANs
- TCP/IP
- Network administration
The Medical Assisting program will help you prepare for examinations leading to the CompTIA A+, Network+ and Linux+ certifications. These certifications are industry-wide vendor neutral, developed and sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). You will also prepare for the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Desktop Technician (MCDST), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certifications. |
