Phlebotomy Technician

Program Length: 2.5 months

A phlebotomy technician works directly with patients. They work in hospitals, laboratories, physician's offices, donation facilities and other health care settings where blood is collected and analyzed. Some phlebotomy technicians travel to call on patients who are homebound or reside in a skilled nursing facility. As a working phlebotomist you have the flexibility of working day, evening or night shift.

Our Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares you to be an entry-level technician with the skills and the theoretical foundation to perform invasive procedures for the purpose of medical laboratory testing. You will learn the techniques for performing venipuncture, capillary puncture, urine collection and other collections for clinical processing. In addition to basic diagnostic and laboratory procedures, students learn current medical technology, the handling of laboratory equipment and other skills necessary to excel in the healthcare industry.

Our program is separated into learning units called modules. You must complete the modules in their entirety, in any sequence, to successfully complete this curriculum. Classes are available 24 hours a day. Students can complete the phlebotomy program within 2.5 months. This program has a clinical training requirement.

Upon completion of this course in phlebotomy, students will have taken a variety of courses related to the healthcare field. Courses include anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, safety and first aid, infection control, venipuncture procedures, point of care collections and HIPAA.
