The Patient Care Technician Program will prepare certified nursing assistants to transition to an entry-level position as a patient care technician. Emphasis is on technical skills necessary to perform personal care to complex patients, implementation of selected portions of care plan including respiratory services, rehabilitation services, EKG, and phlebotomy under the supervision of registered nurses.
Students will be trained to perform clinical skills such as blood collection, EKG's, catheterization, recording vital signs and patient treatments, and other tasks related to patient care. Graduates of the Patient Care Technician program can expect to find employment opportunities in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and placement agencies.
Our online Patient Care Technician program will prepare you to provide direct care to individuals in a variety of healthcare environments. You will gain technical expertise to provide effective clinical assistance to patients.
The Patient Care Technician program will provide you with training to perform clinical tasks such as:
- Collecting blood.
- Performing electrocardiograms (EKGs).
- Completing catheterizations.
- Recording vital signs and patient treatments.
Courses at AHI Institute are broken down into several different modules. In order to successfully complete this program you must complete the modules in their entirety. Classes are available 24 hours a day. The Patient Care Technician Program can be completed in 6 months. This program has a clinical training requirement.
Upon completion of this program, you will be certified in Community CPR and First Aid.
Graduates can seek entry level employment in a variety of settings including:
- National Certified ECG Technician (NCET)
- Nationally Registered title of Certified EKG Technician (NRCEKG)
- Certified Cardiographic Technician - CCT

- National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT)
- National Certified ECG Technician (NCET)
- Nationally Registered title of Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NRCPT)
- Nationally Registered title of Certified EKG Technician (NRCEKG)
